Stuck in Reverse

We tried leaving the slip but forgot a line so I tried to take it out of reverse, it was stuck in reverse, so turned the engine off and recapture all the dock lines.  The cotter pin for the gear shift clevis pin broke, and both fell down the binnacle.  We found some and replaced.  Thought it would be easy but a bolt that holds the compass was corroded, required the use of the impact driver(love this tool).  Then the compass fell cracking the case now after some super glue, a bunch of corrosion x, we are mobile again.  Now we've got to go pump out.

Snubber

We have had a northeast wind for a few days which has had us squeaking and banging against the dock lines, but I remember seeing a snubber down in the lazerette.  So I dug it out to install on the line that we are hitting again, I'm thinking a few minutes and done.  Well 5 hours later I finally got the line run through it, I'm also sore.....

Ingleside Cove & Bahia Marina

Tammy & I cruised over to Ingleside Cove anchoring out, then dinghied to Bahia Marina for the burgers and band, we saw thousands of fish in the cove, along with dolphins.  Caught the sunset, then the moon as we dinghied back to the boat.  My boat babe cleaned the slime off of S/V Living and Loving Life.  She also prepared the 3 blue crab for lunch on the way back, and I mean everything cleaned and cooked, nice lunch!

Replaced Suzuki handle clamps

Replaced the Suzuki 8 hp dinghy motor stern handles and clamps.  Now it's much easier to take off the dinghy and stow on the back of the boat.

Jib Halyard Restraint

We have had trouble with rolling the jib in and out since we've had the boat, a very good rigger, Matt Sebring saw us fowl after a race, and immediately after looking at the previous blog told us that a jib halyard restraint was needed and a couple days later he installed it.  Thanks Matt it works!

BYC Commodore Cruise to Island Moorings

Enjoyed dolphins on the way over, with light winds both days.  Beautiful sailing.

Teak

Second coat of teak oil applied by Tammy while I put replacement plugs in the screw holes on the toe rail, no pictures just the satisfaction of completing something!

Sewing the sail

We had a rip in our jib sail, so after ripping it some more with the sewing machine, took the machine to be adjusted.  Then we were able to sew a crude patch on to the sail.  The sail is past it prime.  We will replace with another, and we already have it below, after seewng the sacrificial uv cover on it.  But this will do for now.

Teak cleaned & oiled!

We have brown teak instead of grey!  Tammy cleaned the teak with the pressure washer to remove the old varnish and oiled the teak.  I cleaned the stainless.  Boat is looking good.
